Antonio Barrese - 15 Maggio 2005
15th May 2005 - Antonio Barrese Installation produced for the presentation of the monograph “Vivere il progetto – Dalla ricerca al design strategico e di comunicazione”. The walls of the “Salone d’onore” at the Triennale were covered with 4,500 strips of paper, each bearing a phrase taken from writings dated between 1975 and 2005. My idea was to offer a repertory of pretexts and suggestions, deliberately chaotic, like everyday events. An undulating space, like the vibratile cilia of a mucosa, or an expanse of grass ruffled by the wind. A Book-Ambience to walk into. A meta-book. A book-body to penetrate. A book-space activated by the people entering it and using it as they wish. A book that can be begun at any point, be read in an infinite number of ways, and finished whenever you like. A book that invites interpretation rather than imposing content, even though the themes involved are clear to see. A happening that is an ambience, an aesthetic space like an “open work” that revisits kinetic and programmed art. On God’s side of the Wailing Wall.
