L’OMBRA E LA LUCE
È un assioma primario, ma anche la ricerca da cui ripartire. Una posizione simmetrica rispetto alle ricerche sulla luce sviluppate con il Gruppo MID. Non esiste luce senza ombra e neppure ombra senza luce. Lavorando con le ombre si scopre la loro fisicità. L’inaspettata solidità della luce quando si manifesta, intercettando una superficie, e l’analoga corporeità dell’ombra, che la fa tornare a essere protagonista, come l’ombra di Peter Pan. L’ombra rinasce non più subordinata alla luce che, con la sua immanenza, la sovrasta. Cercare l’essenza dell’ombra e definirne l’identità, delinea la sua natura di manifestazione primaria, di prossimità quasi asintotica al grado zero dell’espressione. La ricerca esplora la faccia nascosta della Luna, l’essenza – e l’assenza – segnica, piuttosto che la dovizia semantica o il predominio della tecnica. L’ombra, nonostante l’essenzialità, è tuttavia protesa verso la complessità e determina un repertorio espressivo al quale non è necessario aggiungere contenuti che non siano quelli del suo stesso manifestarsi.

SHADOW AND LIGHT
A primary axiom and an avenue of research to head down once again, symmetrically-positioned with respect to the research on light pursued with the Gruppo MID.
There can be no light without shadow and no shadow without light.
When you work with shadows, you discover their physicality. The unexpected solidity of light when it manifests itself, intercepting a surface, and the similar corporeity of the shadow, which, like Peter Pan’s shadow, makes it return to a place of protagonism. The shadow is reborn, no longer subordinated to the overpowering immanence of the light.
Searching for the essence of the shadow and defining its identity highlights its nature as a primary manifestation, its almost asymptotic proximity to a degree zero of expression.
This research explores the hidden face of the Moon, the essence – and absence – of signs, as opposed to semantic abundance or the dominance of technique.
In spite of its essentiality, shadow is nonetheless projected towards complexity, determining an expressive repertoire to which it is not necessary to add content other than its own manifestation.

L’ombra non è semplicemente la riduzione della quantità di luce, provocata da un corpo che intercetta i raggi luminosi, impedendone il passaggio e rendendo più scura la zona non direttamente raggiunta dalla luce.
Il suo manifestarsi genera significati e rimandi simbolici.

Shadow is not simply a reduction in the amount of light caused by a body intercepting rays of light, preventing them from passing through and darkening the area not directly reached by the light.
Its manifestation generates symbolic meanings and references.

Isolare l’ombra, renderla nitida e gestibile, padroneggiarla.
Un pendolo luminoso simile a un metronomo – e, come questo,
a frequenza regolabile – dà ritmo al movimento dell’ombra
e trasforma la stanza in un palcoscenico.

Tre pendoli luminosi RGB, con oscillazione asincronica.
La periodicità di ciascuno di essi ha una durata espressa da un numero primo, cioè nell’unità di tempo, il numero di oscillazioni non è divisibile per gli altri due. Così, il ciclo di ombre è diverso per un periodo lunghissimo.

Three luminous RGB pendulums, with asynchronous oscillation.
The periodicity of each of them is expressed by a prime number, i.e. in the unit of time, the number of oscillations is not divisible by the other.
So, the cycle of shadows remains different over an extremely long period of time.
